    Camp Agawam

I attended Camp Agawam in the summer of 2024.

The camp is split into to distinct parties: the Ags and the Wams. With a unique lore, each competition is something that unites us boys through excited cheering and spirit. Other than that, there are also many opportunities at camp to strengthen the bond within Agawam as a whole.

Throughout the my camp experience, there was not one day that I was not reminded of the brothers that helped me become part of the community. Whether it be a cabin event, a party event, or just a casual card game with my friends, I always enjoyed the constant teamwork that the camp integrates.

During free time, there are plenty of activities to head to. There is always a memorable moment that is created just by participating. Imagine this:

The water splashes as a barrage of tennis balls are thrown at Ags, thankfully the capsized canoe takes the blunt of the blow. Strategically, Kamaurie and I gather tennis balls and return it to the Wams with precise lobs to catch unsuspecting targets with surprise.

    What about this:

The whistle pierces the air, I pull the rope with all my effort. My friends behind me also tug, I can see that the other team—the Wams—are also tightening there grip. Their anchor, Francisco, suddenly drags on the rope and the flag has almost crossed into the enemy territory. Seeing the dreadful situation, the Ags start a steady chant to hopefully turn the tide. With new incentive, I start marching towards our territory and I can feel that flag is steadily recovering to the middle ground. The sand on the beach is disarranged across our muddled feet, and with each unsuccessful coup for victory does the scene become more and more untidy. Sweat and grime covers each player from the waist down.

The Wams start beating a rhythm on the fences, but this is almost abruptly triumphed by an even louder Ag response. Without mercy, the Ags give one more trudge towards our territory. Without knowing it, the flag had crossed into our territory, and the spectators are quick to celebrate this close tug-of-war match. The Wams on the other side of the rope collapse, and me and the Ags stumble forward as the final show of victory.
